Bonita Patton has been a resident of Winston Salem for 14 years. Her hometown is York, SC and she is the daughter of Harry Gilmore, Sr. and the late Virginia Patton. Bonita is single and lives alone. She is very active in her church, Calvary Hill Church of Greater Deliverance, her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Winston Salem Alumnae, and serves as a Senior Program Director for the YMCANWNC 21st CCLC. She enjoys watching children learn both academically and socially, volunteers for Hospice & Palliative Care, and Family Services. She enjoys helping people in need and giving a listen ear.

In 1995, Bonita was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver and told that she was in need of a liver transplant – her only option for survival. She has been fortunate to be placed on the transplant waiting list at Carolinas Medical Center.

August 2015 Update:
We are still here waiting on the liver. A lot has happened during the the last couple of months. I have been called in for a back up 3 times and hospitalized once. I had to come to realization, it is not on my time but God’s time. During this time, I want to thank my sister Jonelle. She uprooted her family and moved in with me. She has been with every step. I understand what they mean when they say you have to have a strong supportt system. Make sure you have a good support system.
