Help HOPE Live for Eric Berkey

Family and friends of Eric Berkey are raising money to pay for adaptive equipment made necessary by a catastrophic spinal cord injury (SCI). Proceeds are used to acquire and maintain Eric’s power wheelchair, adaptive sports / fitness equipment, a mobility van and medical supplies not covered by insurance.

Eric has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live provides both tax-deductibility to the full extent allowed by law and fiscal accountability to contributors. Contributors can be sure that funds contributed will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. For more information, please contact Help Hope Live at 800-642-8399.

Eric is currently seeking to raise money for a handcycle. As a quadriplegic with impaired arm and hand function, hand cycling is the core of Eric's fitness routine. Not only does hand cycling help Eric build strength and cardiovascular health, it's also one of his favorite activities, providing feelings of freedom, independence and accomplishment that greatly enhance Eric's mental health as well!

As many of you know (and some may not), Eric is now living in Steamboat Springs, CO at a top-notch center called Casey’s Pond. Eric is thriving in the Rocky Mountains alongside our brother Dan, his wife Clare and kids Caz and Soren. Ski town living has provided Eric with access to many adaptive sports, which has produced encouraging results!

With the help of family and friends, Eric continues to work toward neural recovery, mobility, and independence. An important part of the recovery process is access to adaptive technology. The right equipment for transportation, exercise, mobility, and the needs of daily living enable Eric to do things that weren’t possible a few years ago.

We invite you to join us in supporting this cause by making a tax-deductible donation in Eric’s name to Help Hope Live.
