My Mom, Diane Peters is up against a challenge she cannot face alone. She needs the help of her family, friends and community in order to survive. Mom has always given so much to everyone that she has met in her life. She has a deep love for her husband, Dan, her family and loves spending time with her 2 grandchildren. Unfortunately, she is unable to do what most of us take for granted.
Mom suffers from Chronic Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis. Her lungs have been severely damaged due to this disease. She has been in and out of the hospital and is on oxygen. Her doctors at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania have told us that her only option is a life-saving double lung transplant.
Not many families have the resources to meet the financial obligations of transplantation. Although, the transplant itself is covered by insurance there are many expenses not covered and must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, and Mom will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications. In addition, my mother and I will have to relocate to Philadelphia for at least 3 months post-transplant for medical tests as well as pulmonary rehab. This is where your help is needed.
A fundraising campaign has been established in my mom’s honor with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Mid-Atlantic Lung Transplant Fund and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant- related expenses only. Please consider making a donation.
On behalf of Mom, Dad and our family, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers.
