Dear Family and Friends,
I am writing in honor of Wes Price, the husband of my dear friend, Jocelyn Price. As many of you know Wes, 30, suffered a life-changing spinal cord injury as a result of a plane crash on September 12, 2010 and is now a quadriplegic, with no use of his arms or legs (you can read more about Wes’s incredible story by visiting his CaringBridge website).
Wes, Jocelyn, and Ty (their new baby boy) have spent months in hospitals and rehabilitation centers and are now ready and eager to go home to Anchorage, Alaska. Before that can happen, they need a few things in place. The most necessary is a converted van that will allow them to get around.
Even with insurance, Wes will have many uninsured injury-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, rehabilitation therapy, home modifications, caregiver expenses, durable medical equipment and a modified van. Several family friends have already completed many necessary modifications to their townhome in Alaska in preparation for their return, but this will be temporary as they will need to sell it and find a place that is better suited for Wes’s needs. While Wes and Jocelyn are blessed to still be able to work, the uninsured expenses will present a financial challenge that we can assist with. Now that Wes is getting some movement back in his legs and feet, one special goal is to raise funds to go towards a FES bike. This specialized bike actively applies electrical stimulation to Wes’ leg muscles, allowing him to peddle and exercise his muscles.
With that said, I am very excited to announce that a fundraising campaign in Wes’ honor has been established with the Catastrophic Injury Program of HelpHOPELive. HelpHOPELive is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the transplant and catastrophic injury community for more than 28 years. One of the most incredible things about this organization (and the main reason why we chose to fundraise with them) is that as a nonprofit, HelpHOPELive provides both tax-deductibility and fiscal accountability to contributors. Donations are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only.
This is the kind of van Wes and Jocelyn are looking for before they return home

I am asking you to join hands with me and my team of fundraisers and help make a difference. Your donations will help Wes and his family to live an improved quality of life with a spinal cord injury. You are welcome to contact me directly with any questions you may have. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Sincerely,
Vanessa Polvi

Wes and I are so very humbled by the donations that came in for his new chair in just 20 days!!!!!!!!! We are BLOWN away by your generosity!! Thank you to each one of you who donated for this special cause. Being in a wheelchair comes with many burdens as you can imagine, but the financial one is hard to sustain by ourselves. We are reminded of the love and friendship of all of you who support us even though we may not see you as often as we would like. Our prayer is one that Ty came up with a few years ago and you can pray also that, "his daddy would be out of his wheelchair by the time he is 7." God is good and Wes continues to live his life honoring Him. He puts his hope in eternity knowing this life is short and even though he may not walk here on Earth, he will soon enough in Heaven.
May God bless you all. We are so thankful!
Will update again when he gets his new wheels!!! YAAAAY!!!! SO excited! (except for the more speed part...he's got enough speed for now.)
Dear Friends and Family,
We have AMAZING news to share. Thanks to you, we have hit our goal and raised over $10,667 in just under 20 days! What a blessing!! Wes will be getting his new wheelchair in a few short months!
The Price family could not be any more grateful for your love, prayers and donations. There are no words to describe the power of this family's support network. All I can say is that this is an incredible outcome in such a short time. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has contributed along the way.
With love and immense gratitude,
Vanessa
Hello Family and Friends!
It has been a while since we provided an update on Wes and his family, who continue to do well in their improvised life. When their life was re-routed almost 7 years ago the Lord was faithful and has sustained their family through His love and through very supportive family and friends. Wes, Jocelyn, and Ty, now 6 3/4 have also been blessed with another baby boy, Case, who will be turning 2 in August! They are no longer living in Alaska but are in Jocelyn's home town, Baker City, Oregon. where Jocelyn and Wes's parents live as well.
Their life is still complex and Wes continues to have many needs on a day-to-day basis. Thankfully the Lord has blessed them with a dedicated caregiver who makes life so much smoother for them! Wes continues to stay very busy working full time + some, thanks to the use of his adaptive computer and mouth stick. He is able to provide for for his family which allows Jocelyn to stay home with the boys! Another blessing!
Wes is still getting out into the great outdoors as much as possible and has been able to caribou hunt at the Maclaren River Lodge for the last three years. He has also been out elk hunting here in Oregon with his adaptive sip and puff rifle! It is all of the above that allow life to seem somewhat normal for the Price family. Their desire is to be out in this world as a light for Jesus and to show people that this world is nothing compared to eternity. Wes has always said "It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me." Gal 2:20. Wes continues to be an inspiration to so many with his amazing attitude and loving personality.
Along with these updates, we are also writing to inform you of a new fundraising campaign starting April 1. Wes has been returning to Craig hospital for rehabilitation every two years and it is time to upgrade his wheelchair. Can you imagine what has changed in the last 7 years in terms of wheelchair technology? It is absolutely amazing!! Wes is very excited about this new chair, which will be much more comfortable, streamlined for his particular needs and will allow him to be supported in a standing position if/when needed. It will have a better turning radius and will allow Wes to adjust the position of both his feet and back, resulting in improved circulation. It will also be front wheel drive, which will provide better suspension (and better off-roading!).
This chair is Wes's only mode of transportation!! And these new models are very expensive (literally as much as a new car!). Wes and Joce have insurance to cover most of the chair but it will not cover some of the extras mentioned above. The remainder is $10,667. So, we are kicking off this fundraiser to raise this $10,667, with the hope of achieving our goal by July 1 (Wes will be headed back to Craig on July 1 to be fitted for his new chair).
We are so thankful for each one of you and I know Wes and Joce are forever grateful. Lets show them some love and get Wes up to date, MUCH more comfortable, and in style!!
Please feel reach out to me directly if you have any questions. My email address is vanessa@polvi.net. Thank you for donating to this great cause!
With love,
Vanessa
