Tina’s Story

Tina Dempsey Reed has been a lifelong resident of Southwest Virginia, living more recently in Riner and then Indian Valley. She considers herself a farm girl at heart with a great love for animals, especially horses and chickens. She is married to Ronnie Reed and they have two “children”, their Collie and Blue Healer. After high school she began a career in the mental health field where she worked until her recent illness. Due to her poor health, she has now been forced to stop working.
Tina was diagnosed in February 2010 with liver disease, cirrhosis of the liver. She was fortunate to have been placed on the transplant waiting list recently. A liver transplant is now her only chance of survival. Ronnie and Tina have come to realize that funding this surgery is a monumental task since there are so many uninsured transplant-related expenses.
In order to ease the financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Tina’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South Atlantic Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. If you wish to help Tina, then please consider making a year-end contribution.
