Amy Fegan Blank, the love of my life, said “I DO” on October 4, 2008. As we were living the dream as a newlywed couple we encountered a little turbulence along the way. Amy was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease May 17, 2011. Due to the extreme fatigue associated with this condition Amy has been unable to fly the friendly skies since the diagnosis. After many doctor visits, tests and evaluations the cause of this condition has been determined and it was too late to save her native kidneys. With diet and exercise she was able to stave off dialysis while I was being evaluated to be a possible donor. We got the news in April and I was a match. I, Amy’s husband donated the Gift of Life June 25, 2012.
Not only is a transplant major surgery, it is also very expensive. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be paid for out-of-pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, and travel to and from the transplant center. Amy will need to live near Mayo Clinic for approximately one month after the transplant. In addition, Amy will be on a lifetime of anti-rejection medications. This is where your help is needed.
A fundraising campaign, in Amy’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live (formerly NTAF). Help Hope Live is a nonprofit organization that has provided fundraising assistance to the transplant community for over 40 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by Help Hope Live in the Southeast Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a contribution today.

It is never easy to ask for help and now is certainly no exception. Amy has touched the lives of many and we deeply appreciate the support she has received. At times like this the assistance of family, friends and the community is crucial to help ensure a positive quality of life.
With sincere heartfelt gratitude,
Rodney Blank

Hi Amy and Rodney, I used to manage a dialysis clinic and my wife is a dialysis nurse. We both know how hard this must be, but that is so great Rodney is a match! You will both be back and flying in no time.

Amy and Rodney, on June 25th, my own birthday, I will be praying for the doctors as well as both of you. I know the surgery will be successful! I wish I was a wealthy person, I would give you, with joy, so much more. All I can do right now is this, in the memory of my own mother, Reba. I commit to you both my prayers and financial support as I can. We don't know each other well but that doesn't matter. You are now part of my heart!!! My granddaughter Kate lives in Newnan and is a beautiful Godly young woman. I am sending your story to her for her and her church to be on your side. Your flying friend, Vera :)
