As many of you may know, I have been struggling with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) for many years. I was first diagnosed with PKD over 30 years ago. This genetic and life-threatening disorder has already claimed the life of my mother and oldest brother. Today I have less than 18% kidney function and need a new kidney urgently. Otherwise, I’ll have to start dialysis— a process that compromises any future transplant and can shorten my lifespan.
My brother and my wife have both offered to be donors, but were disqualified due to medical reasons. Therefore, I have launched a campaign to help me find a living donor as well as to raise funds to cover transplant and dialysis-related expenses not covered by my insurance. Some of these additional expenses include transportation costs, room and board, and other living donor expenses.
Would you consider making a tax-deductible donation on my behalf? I would be very grateful. I have established a fundraising account with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. Your donation will be held by HelpHOPELive in the Northeast Kidney Transplant Fund and administered to me for transplant and/or dialysis-related expenses only. For more information about HelpHOPELive, please contact them at 800.642.8399.
