Family and friends of Jim Shoffstall are raising money to pay for uninsured medical expenses associated with his kidney transplant. Jim lives in Belleville, IL and is being treated at St. Louis University Hospital.
The BAD News: If one kidney is not replaced soon, Jim will spend the rest of his life on dialysis.
The GREAT News: In early September 2008, a close personal friend from church stepped up to the plate and offered to donate her kidney. Nothing short of a miracle in the making, she turned out to be a PERFECT match. After weeks of testing, and months of waiting on the hospital to obtain a surgeon, the transplant is now finally scheduled for Friday, March 13th, 2009.
The CHALLENGE: It has been determined that initial costs for the transplant will exceed $25,000 in addition to life long medications that will exceed several thousand dollars.
