Susan Sims has been a resident of Altoona, PA for over 40 years. She married William Sims and they have three daughters, Heather Sims Eisel, Megan Sims and Rebecca Sims Locke. She also has four grandchildren, Ashley Eisel, Chandler Cavanaugh, Joshua Eisel and Cadence Locke. Susan has been employed as a registered nurse, but has spent most of her life sewing and making primitive dolls and crafts to sell at craft fairs, festivals and shops. However, due to her poor health, she has now been forced to stop working.
Susan became seriously ill in 2011 and was diagnosed with cirrhosis and suspected liver cancer. She was fortunate to have been placed on the transplant waiting list. A liver transplant is her best chance for a longer, healthier life. Susan and Bill have come to realize that funding this surgery is a monumental task since there are so many uninsured transplant-related expenses.
