I am writing to you on behalf of my loving husband Joe Soravilla. Joe is the wonderful father of our children Joey Jr. (5) and Joshua 1. Joe was a carpenter by trade. Last May, Joe suffered a life-changing spinal cord injury following a devastating car accident. Now, a paraplegic with no use of his legs, Joe has spent the last nine months in medical and rehab facilities.
In spite of the many struggles that he has faced and as he moves ahead, Joe remains hopeful that he will be able to return to a productive life in the community through the support of family and friends. We are preparing to make several modifications to our home in order to make it accessible for his needs. With the changes in the Medicaid plan, Joe needs to pay a $9,000 a year deductable before any of his medical expenses can be covered; this does not include any rehabilitation therapy. Joe is planning to enter an intensive therapy program that will strengthen his body and help him to possibly regain some additional function in his legs.
The cost for the above will be at least $65,000. To assist with the costs, the home modifications, uninsured medical expenses, and recovery-based therapies, a fundraising campaign in Joe’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. In 2000, they expanded their mission to include those who have sustained a catastrophic injury. All contributions are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only. On behalf of all of Joe, myself and our family we thank you in advance for your generosity, support and kindness.
Sincerely,
Beth Soravilla

Joe, I read your story, and understand to some degree the circumstances you and your family are dealing with.
I will be honored to help spread the word about your circumstances and hopefully help to raise funds.
We too have a close family friend who just a few months ago was injured-c4, and is still in Atlanta at Shepherd. We've been doing fundraising for him as well. I've found out that people you don't even know care about you, your wife, kids and parents, and want to help. :)

Joe, its been a little more then a year since your accident and look at how far you have come. I am so proud of you. Your positive attitude and dedication to your work effort to get back what you have lost is a gift from GOD. Keep praying and stay positive and good things will come. Love You.

Joe, Beth:
God does not make mistakes... so there has to be something better to be coming... that is a promise. The hard part is being patient and FAITHFUL enough to believe and know it is true. the Bible talks of a HOPE that is not "wishful thinking" but an "ASSURANCE' of something to happen. This is the hope we must have. I have been praying for you since the accident and Beth's mother keeps me informed on your status. Please stay faithful and true and something good will come of this, however look not for just our good but His good and there you will find it.

Keep on fighting, never give up, stay positive, and pray! It all works with the right attitude! Love you!
