My sister Jamie Spear is up against an enormous challenge she cannot face alone. Jamie needs the help of her family, friends and community in order to survive. She has worked hard her entire life in many different careers but the one most important and fulfilling to her is and has always been her role as mother and grandmother. I love Jamie for her kindness and the caring she has shown to everyone around her.
Three years ago, Jamie was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). During this past year Jamie’s condition has worsened greatly. Everyday chores, such as making her bed, have become a monumental task. At this point, her only chance for survival is a double lung transplant. Jamie has been evaluated at Shands Hospital in Florida, and she is considered an excellent candidate for a double lung transplant. Through this gift of transplantation, Jamie can continue to help others with her kindness and caring.
Transplantation is life saving, but very expensive. Financing this procedure is a monumental task, a challenge Jamie cannot meet without your help. There are many pre- and post-transplant related expenses that are not covered by insurance such as relocation closer to the hospital for a year after the surgery and costly immunosuppressant medications she will have to take for the rest of her life.
To help with these uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in Jamie’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Your financial gifts as well as your prayers will be greatly appreciated, and will help us through this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Scott Kolb

Moms Benefit Rummage Sale
Today we held a successful rummage sale for our daughter Jamie Spear to raise funds for her double lung transplant. My great Grandson Austin was soo much help to me. Also thanks to my dear friend Chrissy Beatty who donated her house, time and Money to help us with this project. Our friend Bobbi Jean also helped and made several purchases. Thank you to all who donated items to the rummage sale also, it helped us have a very successful sale. We are going to hold another in two weeks at Chris's house on Radio road and anyone interested, please stop by and look at all the goodies. Help us to help Jamie. Thank you to all! I almost forgot my dear husband Dale who spent many hours helping me get ready. Thank You Dale!!
Jamie's Journey was created on Facebook
A friend of Jamie named Dawn Canada wanted to help get the word out about Jamie's needs so she created Jamie's Journey on facebook. Thanks Dawn well appreciated.
