MARCH 26, 2021, 11:25 P.M.
Since my last update many things have changed. I no longer do hemo dialysis, I am on manual peritoneal Dialysis 4 times a day . I have been in the hospital several times, including a trip in June where I had double pneumonia and a lot of fluid in my lungs. I’m still dealing with the problems from that one. I also had skin cancer removed from my scalp. Wear a hat people, lots of staples and stitches.
The reason for my post is to give the latest in my journey for transplant. In November 2020 I had a stress test done as part of the evaluation. In February 2021 I revived a call saying there was a abnormality. On March 5th I had a heart cath and other test done. The result of cath was I have 3 major blockages in my arteries. Heart is fine, but the recommendation of the doctor and the medical team is for me to have a bypass.
We are still waiting on the results from my other testing before scheduling heart surgery. Once I am cleared for surgery, and recovered, I will be back on the road to hopefully getting on transplant list.
With this surgery pending and other testing I am trying to prepare mentally ,physically and financially for this long and very daunting road ahead.
I have appreciated your love and support,
Kathy
Dear friends and family,
Kathy is a courageous wife, mother and for 14 years, was an employee at Hastings, and is now employed at Fancy’s Day Spa. For the last 23 years she has been battling with Lupus and its’ many medical complications, while also helping her husband who battles MS.
Kathy’s Lupus has caused her to live with deteriorating kidney function. She was blessed to have a transplant in 2015 ,in witch her mother was her donor. Unfortunately she is now is end stage renal failure again As a result, she is on dialysis three times a day. Kathy has been told that her only chance at a healthy life is to have a kidney transplant.
Through all this Kathy has been determined to live life to the fullest. She was given a terminal diagnosis when her son was three-years-old and remained determined to see Blaen graduate high school in 2012 then college in 2016. Seeing her son reach milestones in his life has kept Kathy going — her strength and giving nature is a testament to her will to live.
No matter how bad Kathy’s day may be, she continues to place others needs before hers. She and her husband have organized countless community benefits for the ill and needy. One of these events, an annual toy drive now in its 19th year, has provided Christmas gifts to children who would not have otherwise had a Christmas. Now it is time for her community to give back.
Funding this life-saving operation will be a monumental task. Even with insurance, Kathy will have many uninsured transplant-related expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel and temporary relocation to the transplant center and the costly immunosuppressant medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life. This presents a financial challenge that Kathy cannot meet alone.
Family and friends of Kathy Stanford are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
Kathy has chosen to fundraise for Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for contributors. Contributors can be sure donations will be used to pay or reimburse medical and related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

Thank you in advance for your support of Kathy during this difficult time; together we can make a difference.
Sincerely,
The Family of Kathy Stanford
Well I am at Baylor hospital and am scheduled for triple bypass. Tuesdays, was admitted Thursday night for chest pain. At first they said I didn't have a heart attack, but several hours later they said I had a small one.
I had hoped to plan for this surgery, but it didn't work for that way. I will be out of work 6 to12 weeks .
I am hoping that after this surgery I can get back to evaluation for Transplant .
My kidney are getting worse and dialysis only does so much. It's hard and frustrating to always be hooked up to something
Stop every thing and do dialysis every day , 4 times a day
But I'll keep fighting and am determined to be stronger than this

As most of you know I am in end stage renal failure. My doctors have said there is no chance of recovery. I am now doing dialysis 3 times a week. I know its along shot, but I am going to apply for transplant again. My medical expenses will be far greater than I can imagine. I hope that you can continue to pray that I do well on dialysis as I continue to seek a transplant so that I can live a better quality life free of tubes .
As most of you know my kidney is in trouble and I have had a few stays in the hospital and now doing dialysis. If you are able to help you can donate here. All are tax deductible. Thank you and keep me in your prayers.
It has now been 5 weeks since my kidney transplant. I can not express the emotional and physical journey that this has been. I am so greatfull to my wonderful mom, who was also my donor. I still have a long road to recovery, and a lifetime ahead of me. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way, the emotional support was just as appreciated as the financial.
Since I started this journey two years ago, a few things have changed. In January 2014 I stopped dialysis so that I could have surgery to repair some damage done by the dialysis. The doctor later decided to see how long I could maintain on my own until a transplant could take place. By August 2014 my kidneys began to decline more.
I am fortunate enough to have a living donor, and we are scheduled to have transplant surgery on Feb 24, 2015 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
As many of you know the expenses are astronomical. All donations will help with medical and living expenses while I am off from work and recovering. Thank you for your support , it means more to me than you can ever know.
