As many of you are aware, my brother David Stewart recently had a freak snowmobile accident while on vacation that has changed his life forever. Dave sustained a severe spinal cord injury from a broken neck. The injury almost took his life and has left him as a quadriplegic facing a very long and challenging road to recovery.
Upon release from the hospital, Dave returned home with much work to do. He is confined to a wheelchair, unable to walk, and not able to feed himself. Dave will need more therapy and rehabilitation; however his insurance will not cover these sessions. In addition, the family home where he is staying is not handicap accessible and the bathrooms are completely unable to accommodate his needs. As a result of the damage Dave sustained from his injury, he now requires round-the-clock care just to meet his basic needs.
Thankfully, Dave has health insurance which covered his hospital stay, but unfortunately it does not cover the majority of the items and support he requires to live on a day-to-day basis, including home health care, a wheelchair, a bed, and vehicular transportation. The wheelchair and bed alone cost nearly $60,000 to purchase with no assistance provided from his insurance. Three to five thousand dollars per month are needed for his home health care aides and therapy. These expenses are quickly draining Dave and his family’s limited financial resources.
Family and friends of David Stewart are raising money for the nonprofit Help Hope Live to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with transplantation.
David has chosen to fundraise with Help Hope Live in part because Help Hope Live assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility to the full extent allowed by law for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Give button.

***** BIRTHDAY ALERT *****
Hello everyone, February 17th is David's 36th birthday and even though we all can't celebrate it together it's never too late to send a birthday gift. We are still looking for donations in order to build me my own space to live and to become more independent. So a donation of any kind small or big is greatly appreciated and it would make one heck of a birthday gift to Dave.
Thank you everyone for your continued support and for all the work and the donations in the past. We love you all and you have been the best friends anyone could ask for! <3 <3

Dave, I am Kathy's Pinchick's sister, and both myself and my husband have you in our prayers. I worked at Magee in Philadelphia 46 years ago during which time James DePriest, Marion Anderson's nephew, was a patient. He was a paraplegic and went on to become an accomplished orchestra conductor (sitting in front of his orchestra). I believe you also will accomplish great goals. Your faith, drive and POSTIVE SPIRIT will reward you. Keep them all alive! We will keep our prayers alive for you.

Dave - don't even know you, but I do know Jennifer Schulman and she thinks the world of you. That means you're an amazing person so I wish I did know you. Doesn't matter, though, because we're all connected somehow. Prayers from Wisconsin.

You are always in my thoughts and prayers. Your mom also. If we can do anything to help give me a call or let one of the girls know when they visit. Lots of love and best wishes sent your way.
