Dear Friends,
I am writing this letter on behalf of my husband Todd Stickel. He is a loving husband and the father of our two wonderful daughters, Morgan & Kendyl. Todd has been battling the effects of a life-long heart disease and has faced several surgeries, always attempting to lead a very active life. He enjoys camping, tennis, volleyball, basketball, working in the yard and has always been actively involved in coaching his girls in various sports.
Todd underwent a very complicated heart surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in November 2011, after which he was diagnosed with heart failure. Since then, he has undergone multiple procedures and medical management; however his doctors have determined that a heart transplant is now Todd’s only option. Todd was hospitalized on February 14th and will remain hospitalized until transplant. Todd always has a very optimistic outlook and remains steadfast in his belief that one day soon he will return to a normal lifestyle.
Transplantation is life-saving, but it is also extremely expensive. Even with insurance, there will be many out-of-pocket expenses we will have to cover, including: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel and relocation to the transplant center, and the costly immunosuppressant medications Todd will have to take for the rest of his life. All of this presents a challenge we cannot meet without your help. With your support, we can make this transplant a reality for Todd.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Todd’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Mid-Atlantic Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
