Kidney disease leads to many other medical complications and hospitalizations. As I am undergoing tests and as a plan to deal with this new challenge is crafted by my medical team, I’m facing a lot of uncertainty, but trying to keep my spirits up. There is so much I want to live for –my three children and my nine grandchildren (the newest is about to be born tomorrow, Jan 19!!). I want to be able to give back for all the blessings I’ve received. But the cost of staying alive is very high. Despite having insurance, many of my medical needs are not covered and must be paid out-of-pocket. On top of the on-going expenses I’ve been paying, now there will be many new ones.
Can you help me again? My family and close friends are kicking off a new fund-raising campaign here at HelpHopeLive to face this new challenge. Help Hope Live is a trusted non-profit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than for 30 years. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held in the Northeast Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. Matching funds are offered as we reach certain thresholds of giving. You can make a difference in the effort to save my life. Please, consider a contribution. I am so grateful to you for caring.

From Joyce’s children:
Our mom, Joyce, has always been and continues to be a devoted mother. She has always been there for us whether it was cheering us on in our numerous sporting activities or by being a sounding board for our everyday issues. She was team mother, team manager, General Manager, incorporator, cheerleader, fundraiser, babysitter, first-aid supplier and trip organizer on many of our teams – “Everything, but the pom-poms, Mom”. She is still devoted to us and now to our own kids as well.
Your support is critical to the success of Mom’s struggle. Please know that your contribution in any amount really counts and will be appreciated more than our words can ever convey. Thank you in advance for your kind consideration.
With sincere gratitude,
Ben Bourque, RJ Bourque and Aidyn Bourque (Joyce’s children)

MOTHERS DAY - May 8, 2016
My friend Gail Eastwood-Author( Gail Eastwood Stokes) is hosting 2 TEA Parties for my kidney fund on Mothers Day and on May 9th. One is at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Old North Rd, Kingston RI from 2 to 5 pm and the other one is a "virtual" Tea Party on Facebook starting on May 8 at 4 pm andcontinuing through May 9 at midnight, She hosted a "Halloween" virtual party this past year and it was so successful. It is a lot of fun to go on facebook and pretend. So, we care looking forward to these events. I am still awaiting a DONOR and I am now No. 16 on the transplant list. Anyone can Honor their own mother by helping out either coming to the TEA at church, coming to the Virtual party on facebook or donating on-line or by mail. Thank you all.
Last Friday, October 30, 2015 my friend, Gail Eastwood Stokes hosted a Virtual Halloween Benefit for me. It lasted from 4 pm to midnight. Her son, Graham was also a huge part in planning and conducting the party. I cannot thank them enough for all the planning and work that they endured.
The benefit itself was a wonderful experience not only for me but for the wonderful people who participated. Many had a wonderful time, some couldn't quite figure all of the aspects out, but in time some of them caught on and became adept at posting pictures and other items. There were several giveaways throughout the night - donated by wonderful people - we had several prints and other art items, gift certificates, as well as jewelry, etc.
Several of the guests brought handsome escorts and that was fun. I did last until midnight, which was a surprise to me. Several others stayed the course also. Thank you - no matter if you just checked in and said hello or stayed for the festivities. I appreciated all of the support. We had close to 60 guests throughout the night and another dozen or so who could not attend but donated to my kidney fund. Thank you all. Every little bit helps and is sincerely appreciated.
If you have not donated yet and wish to, you have until November 15 to be entered into the last drawing which is an original artwork done by George Dunn - "Sugar Heist" you can see it if you go to your activities page and go to the upper right and click on Past Events. You will then see the Halloween Benefit. Gail has posted a picture and description of this beautiful ink and paint artwork. It is not a print. After November 15, you are still able to donate if you so desire. All donations will go into the fund for my future medical expenses and I appreciate them all no matter what you can give. Please note - I do not know what anyone donates. This is not revealed to me. Therefore, no matter how small or large the donation, it is received with love.
Remember, TAX season is coming up and all donations are tax deductible.
Again, Sincere Thanks to all who hosted, helped, shared in the benefit, donated giveaways and donated.
Love, Joyce

9/9/2015 Today I turn 66 and I am very blessed. However, my best friend, Trudi Anne Miller, passed away last week so I am grieving.
Last week I had to go to Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, MA, for a cardiac ablation. I had already gone through this procedure at RI Hospital but is was not successful. On Tuesday Sept 1, Dr. Michaud performed the ablation in Boston and the procedure lasted 6 hours. However, it was a success. He found the spot inside my heart and took care of it. Now, I should have some more energy and my heart muscle, which had weaken considerably, should get stronger again.
I am so blessed for the fact that my friends, Ralph and Gail Stokes and their sons, Matt and Graham, have taken me in as "family". I began going to their church about a year ago and on Christmas Eve I became a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Kingston, RI. Ralph takes me back and forth every Sunday and he also has helped me with other transportation matters.
I moved in April and had such support from many members of this church. They came and packed, carried and moved my stuff. The congregation and the Pastor are beyond belief. I cannot thank God enough for their care, kindness and love.
I am now No. 16 on the transplant list and hope I will receive a kidney in about one year.
Thank you for your concern.
The Fundraiser - Dinner/Dance on November 29, 2014, was a great success and a wonderful time. I have many, many "thank you" notes to send out. Special thanks to Tim Yuettner and Carol Luff they were the Chairpersons for this event and they did an outstanding job. I cannot thank them enough. Another special thank you goes out to Steve Chianesi for the "dinner music" and to the wonderful band - Whiskey Rhode for providing the dance music. Many of us enjoyed the music and danced all night.... Thank you to Mike for catering. The food was wonderful and plentiful - stuffed chicken breasts, roasted red potatoes, string beans, macaroni, salad. Borelli's Bakery donated the bread and a huge sheet cake. All was well.....
Many items were donated for the Raffles and there were over 20 of them, plus a 50/50. Thank you Renee (she gave back her winnings of the 50/50).
I appreciate all the support that I have received from family and friends and even from strangers. It is heartwarming to know that so many people care.
I am No. 6 on the transplant list at Rhode Island Hospital. Hopefully, 2015 may be my year for a transplant. I need to have a cardiac procedure soon and then I will be active on the list.
Your prayers, thoughts and donations have helped me through this time.
Thanks again.
There will be LIVE ENTERTAINMENT at the Dinner-Dance generously provided by Steve Chianesi and WHISKEY RHODE.
Also, there will be Raffles and a 50/50 Raffle
Lots of fun, dancing, good food and raffles.
Hope to see you there.
Love, Joyce

On the weekend of Nov. 10 and 11, 2013, there were two fundraisers held.

I thank Dick, Ralph, the owners, staff, and cast at Newport and all the other volunteers who helped in these events. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hi Joyce,
I know what it is to be on dialysis, it is such a very tough road, but know we're still blessed. We get our treatments, we have our lives, we are still communicating, smilling, and doing many things with our family and friends. How great God is. We'll soon be ok, we'll definately get our kidneys soon. Let us continue to pray, trust, belive, take courage and know that God is able. You are in my prayers, God bless you.
