Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you already know, for the past year, James has been courageously battling end stage renal disease. James has been undergoing dialysis three days per week, four hours a day. This is keeping him alive and he is doing fairly well on this treatment, though it seriously restricts his ability to do activities with his family. For a man who enjoys spending time outside with his two children, Elizabeth and Owen, it is very difficult for him to cope without having the energy to even go on walks.
James’ only real shot at a long and healthy life is to receive a kidney transplant as soon as possible.
Currently, James is completing his medical evaluation at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. However, due to the extraordinary expense of transplantation, funding this life-saving operation is a monumental task. Despite having Medical insurance, many of his medical needs are not covered and must be paid out-of-pocket. James will need between $20,000 and $40,000 for his lifelong immuno-suppressant medications and $5,000 set aside before the doctors can start the transplant. Also, the expense of traveling to and from the center and then relocation costs at the time of transplant will be high. This presents a challenge James cannot meet alone.
To help offset his uninsured costs, a fundraising campaign in James’ honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All contributions are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Northwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. You can help make a difference in James’ life. Please consider making a contribution.Together we can make a difference by assisting James during this difficult time. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
Best regards,
