Diagnosed at just 5 hours old with a congenital heart defect know as Aortic Stenosis, Tanner received intensive cardiac care for 15 years to control his state of heart failure. Tanner was later diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension and Right Atrial Dysfunction in addition to his heart defect. The doctors at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia told us that a heart transplant was Tanner’s only hope for a long and healthy life.
In the few short weeks since receiving his new heart, Tanner has been in and out of the hospital fighting some sort of battle. With his smile never fading, we are hopeful things continue to improve and Tanner will begin his new journey. Even with medical insurance there is a substantial amount of expenses not covered.
To help us with these costs a fundraising campaign in Tanner’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive for out of pocket expenses.
Tanner’s family has chosen to fundraise with HelpHOPELive – The Leader in Fundraising Assistance and Support for Transplant and Catastrophic Injury in part because HelpHOPELive provides both tax-deductibility and fiscal accountability to contributors. Contributors can be sure that funds contributed will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. For more information, please contact HelpHOPELive at 800-642-8399.
Thanks for your support!

Hey Tanner, I hope you know how amazed everyone is with your strength and progress. You are an amazing kid with a TON of people pulling for you. I have followed your blog from day one. I am sorry I can't seem to figure out how to post on it from my I-pad. I have tried so many times. At least you can read this and know how much you are thought about. I am so happy that your Mom has posted photos of you and your progress. It is awesome to see your progress. One step at a time. Just keep telling yourself that. You will have minor set backs but you are such a strong boy. You have all ready been through more than most adults have to endure. I am sorry to hear about your pain. Just remind yourself that this is tempory. You will be able to look back on this when you are back to your old fun loving self. Hang in there Buddy. Just think of where you were a week ago. You have come a long way. I hope each day gets a little easier for you. I can't wait for you to feel up to blogging again. Take care Tan...

*** Update*** December 6, 2010 Tanner received his new heart at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia after being listed for only 24 short days! Tanner is currently in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and recovery nicely. We still have a very long
way to go and a lifetime of follow up, medications and treatments. More updates to follow. Thank you all for your well wishes, thoughts and prayers.
