Shamika Truesdale was born 39 years ago in Kannapolis, NC. She is the big sister to two siblings, and at the age of 18, she was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. As the result of her diagnosis, Shamika has been faced with numerous complications such as high blood pressure, Gastroparesis, and Myositis, resulting in inflammation of her skeletal muscles. She also has battled a blood disorder called Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP). The treatments involved mild chemotherapy, many plasma infusions, blood transfusions and the removal of her spleen.

Since receiving a diagnosis of renal failure a little over a 9 years ago, Shamika has been doing hemodialysis three days a week. In 2012, she was blessed with a Kidney/Pancreas transplat. Unfortunately, thekidney failed in December 2013 due to unforseen complications.

Hi Shamika,
Just wanted to send a little love, encouragement, and support your way today. Never give up, never give in!
I wouldn't take ANYTHING for my journey. It is those trials and tribulations that have made me the strong woman that I am today. I only tell you that to let you know that God will never leave or forsake you. Be encouraged...He is still in control. God bless you on your journey. God loves you, and I do too.
