On April 23, 2008, Steve and his sister Lisa were admitted to the University of Minnesota Medical Center,Fairview, for a living donor liver transplant where Lisa donated 55% of her liver to Steve.
Over 10 years ago, Steve was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC). PSC is an autoimmune disease that attacks the bile ducts of the liver. Steve’s toughness throughout the past decade should not go unnoticed.
Layne (Steve’s wife), and myself (Lisa’s husband), along with all families involved extend our prayers, love, and thanks for Lisa’s truly remarkable gift of LOVE…As she has stated so many times, our main focus is on Steve and his health and that this transplant will be the beginning of a new and healthy life for him.

It is never easy to ask for help and now is certainly no exception. Steve has touched the lives of many and we deeply appreciate the unbelieveable support he has received. At times like this, the assistance of family, friends and the community is crucial to help ensure a positive outcome. Family and friends of Steve are raising money to pay for uninsured medical expenses, as well as extremely expensive immunosuppressant medications that Steve will need for the rest of his life. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated.
To help offset Steve’s uncovered costs, we have chosen to start a fundraising campaign through HelpHOPELive in part because HelpHOPELive provides both tax-deductibility and fiscal accountability to his contributors. Contributors can be sure that funds contributed will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses.
To make a contribution to Steve’s fundraising campaign, click the “Contribute Now” button. To email this page directly to others in your community who might wish to learn about Steve’s campaign, click the email button and type in as many email addresses as you wish.
For more information, please contact HelpHOPELive at 800-642-8399.
Thank you to ALL for your love and support!
We Love You Steve and Lisa!!
