Many of you know my wonderful husband Phil. We have been married for 32 years. He is the stepfather to my daughter and grandfather to our two grandchildren. He is very lucky to have a supportive brother Eddie and sister in law Carol. He also adores our dog Louie. Phil has always been a very hard worker. In the past you may have seen him on the water either sailing for pleasure, working on or delivering boats. You might have seen him with our dogs on the beach, taking them to the park or spending the day at Busch gardens with our grandchildren. Now Phil spends most of his time at home in bed.
Phil’s heart was so damaged from scar tissue that his doctors at Tampa General Hospital told us that his only chance for survival was a heart transplant. Not only was his transplant a major surgical procedure, but it was also very expensive — exceeding the amount paid by insurance. In addition Phil is now on a life time of anti-rejection medications. As the heart transplant process was emotionally, physically, and financially challenging for Phil and our family, we are so grateful for the help we received from our community.
Phil has done well all these years since his heart transplant in 2011. But now because of his rejection medicine he has lost his kidneys. He is on dialysis at home, and is currently being evaluated for a kidney transplant.
So again we need your help. We need to fundraise for at least $3,000 to pay for medication that insurance will not pay for, before they will put him on the list for transplant. Thank you in advance.
A fundraising campaign has been established with Help Hope Live. Help Hope Live is a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for more that thirty-five years. All contributions are administered by Help Hope Live exclusively for uninsured transplant-related expenses. Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. It is never easy to ask for help and now is certainly no exception. Phil has touched the lives of many and we deeply appreciate the support he has received. At times like this the assistance of family, friends and the community is crucial to help ensure a positive outcome. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated.
On behalf of Phil and our entire family, we thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Sincerely,
Louise Vaughn
