On May 26, 2011, Zac was headed home from
campus when, during a terrible storm, a tree fell on
his car. By the grace of God, my friend Zac is still here, but he sustained critical injuries. Presently, he has very limited use of his fingers, hands and arms
and has no use of his legs. Zac underwent multiple surgeries on his brain, neck and spine at Grady Memorial Hospital and was then transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta where he continues to receive occupational therapy and physical therapy.
Zac’s perseverance and determination is inspirational to all who know him. The purpose of this letter is to ask for your support of Zac. There are many expenses that Zac will incur that are not covered by insurance. Immediate needs are home modifications so that Zac can return home – this includes a ramp to get into the house. There is also the matter of transportation – the family needs a specially-designed van to accommodate Zac’s wheelchair. Zac must be able to get to his therapy sessions and Lord willing, he is hoping to return to his classes at Clayton State University in January of 2012.
To assist with these current and future expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established with HelpHOPELive. HelpHOPELive is a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for over 28 years and the catastrophically injured community for over 11 years. All contributions are tax-deductible and are administered for injury-related expenses only.
