Dear Family and Friends,
Many of you know my loving husband, Jason Walters. We have been married for fourteen years and have five children. Less than a year ago, Jason’s health began to rapidly decline and this past summer Jason was diagnosed with Pancreatitis. Jason has been in severe pain, and has been hospitalized numerous times. Due to his illness he has lost his job and is unable to continue being the sole provider for our family.
Jason’s doctors at University Medical Center have told us that his only option now is a life-saving islet cell transplant. This will then be followed by a pancreas transplant. That will prevent him from becoming a brittle diabetic and enable him to live a long and healthy life. Even with insurance, there are many expenses that must be paid for out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, travel and relocation at the time of transplant and Jason will be on a life-time of anti-rejection medications. We are up against a challenge that we cannot meet alone and desperately need your help.
To help offset his uninsured medical expenses, a fundraising campaign in Jason’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Islet Cell/Pancreas Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making an end of year contribution today. On behalf of Jason, our children and myself, thank you in advance for your thoughts, prayers and generosity.
