I have some wonderful news to share with you all. In May, almost 5 years from the date of my injury, I graduated with my master’s degree in occupational therapy! I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. I know that I absolutely couldn’t have done this without your donation!
Unfortunately, spinal cord injury is a chronic condition that does not improve. It takes a toll on the body and I have experienced increasing health problems over the years. For this reason, I am asking you to think about donating again for the 5-year anniversary since my accident. I still have to complete 6 months of unpaid internships and pass a major board exam before I can work, which may be a year away. Then I will face the mystery of private health insurance and copays and the massive student debt I took on to get this degree.
A harrowing thought is the estimated lifetime cost for becoming paraplegic at age 25- over $2,000,000 for life or $68,000 a year (data from the Christopher Reeves Foundation). Your donations can shield me from many of these large expenses. Because this injury lasts a lifetime, I need to ask if you would make another donation for my 5-year anniversary.
If you are able and would like to continue to help, please consider a tax deductible contribution. All contributions are held by Help Hope Live in the Southwest Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for injury-related expenses only.
Thank you again for your support and allowing me to continue to thrive!
Sincerely,
Danielle Lancelot Watson

Hi Danielle,,
I don't know if you'll remember me,but I'm Nancy Cain from next door to your grandparents in Massapequa. Knew you a long time ago when you were a little bleach blonde baby and you used to come next door and visit all the time. Debbie, Doreen and Donna were fixtures in my life, and of course your mom, Diane... I'm sorry about your accident~ Can't even imagine. But from everything I'm reading about you..you are strong, resilient and determined to get better. I have chills reading all about you. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers during your recovery and in your life!!
Best Always~~ Love and hugs...Nancy

Dear Danielle,
Although we haven't met you, we have heard a lot about how wonderful you are from Dee and Steve. We work with Steve and heard about your terrible accident. They have told us that you are one determined and positive person and know that with these great strengths you can make great progress. We will continue to think positive thoughts as well for you and hope that you will achieve all of your goals to getting well. We hope to have the pleasure of meeting you one day. Keep strong and positive!

Hi Danielle,
I heard about your story at Vinaka's. I hadn't been there in a while and was sorry to hear about your fall. I work at a spinal cord injury recovery center called Project Walk, so your story definitely caught my attention. If you ever get a chance, check our website out or give us a call - we'd love to give you a tour if possible, or at least answer some questions and help you with resources. You seem to be doing well - which is awesome. Never give up hope! I've seen amazing things happen!
Very sincerely,
A Vinaka's fan,
Jes
