Dear Friends and Family:
As many of you already know, for the past several years, my son, Rob has been courageously battling end-stage renal disease. For two years now, Rob has been on dialysis three days per week, 3-4 hours per day. This is keeping him alive. Though he is doing fairly well on this treatment, there are many undesirable side effects and he is unable to work. His only shot at a long and healthy life is to receive a kidney transplant as soon as possible.
Rob has been on the active transplant list at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, since August, 2011. He is also being evaluated by The Ohio State University Transplant Center to see if he qualifies to be on the kidney transplant list there as well. Despite having Medicare, many of Rob’s medical needs are not covered and must be paid out of pocket. Due to his inability to work, funding this life-saving operation is a monumental task. The hospital is requiring that Rob have at least $3000 to $5000 set aside just to remain on an active list. After the transplant, Rob will need this money for the immunosuppressant medications he will take for the rest of his life and for frequent post-transplant trips to and from the transplant center. This presents a challenge Rob cannot meet alone.
To help with his uninsured costs, a fundraising campaign in Rob’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Great Lakes Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
At times like these the help of family, friends and community are crucial to help ensure a successful outcome. Your financial gifts and prayers are greatly appreciated.Together we can make a difference by assisting Rob during this difficult time so that he can be here to watch his grandchildren grow up. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

Just to update Rob is still on dialysis three times per week and is doing as well as can be expected. He does tire very easily and has had a few trips back to the ER for severe headaches and upset stomach.
We have been advised again that we must seek funds to help after transplant and that he is still on the transplant list but could be removed if they do not think he can finiancially take care of the kidney once he receives it.
If you are able a donation would be very much appreciated and if you could plan a benefit in his honor or be a donor please let us know. Thanks to all and God be with each of you.
Rob is now on The Ohio State University (Wexner Center) transplant list for his kidney. That does mean he is on two list however both list are 2-5 years.
Both transplant centers have told him he is to have money set aside for the post transplant medicines that can run up to $1500. per month the rest of his life.
Anyone interested in donating a kidney please contact us as his health is failing and also please donate to this site or let us know if you would like to sponsor a benefit to raise money and awareness about donating life. Thanks the Wielands Terry and Lynda
