Kate (Kathryn) Wolfe needs our support!
Kate is a single woman who has loved her career in the transportation industry. She drove for Greyhound Bus Lines, Inc. for eight years and later went into the trucking industry for six years. For five of those years she was a team driver traveling throughout the United States and Canada.
In November, 2010 Kate became ill during a winter trucking trip. After arriving home, she was admitted to the hospital for what she thought was pneumonia. Upon further examination, she was diagnosed with severe renal failure. Doctors told her that a kidney transplant would be her only hope for survival. She is currently on the transplant list at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Oregon.
Kate’s life has changed dramatically to one of struggle, medical complications, daily dialysis and hospitalizations. Through it all she has kept her faith and spirit in order to help her endure this horrific disease. She maintains a positive outlook on life and it is her goal to one day return to the trucking industry. Until then, she takes daily walks with her friend and her dog. Fortunately, she has friends she can rely on to help her emotionally through these trying times.
Transplants are life-saving but terribly expensive. Kate is facing many hospital and clinic visits and will need to take post-transplant medications for the rest of her life. Without these medications (that can be hundreds to thousands of dollars a month), her body may reject her new kidney.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Kate’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Northwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Your contribution is greatly appreciated. You can make a difference, and help Kate achieve her goal of having a normal life through a kidney transplant, by sending in your contribution today. She will live to thank you for it.
Thank you,
Gil Beanes
