My name is Gerald Wren. I’m 59 years old. I worked in the telecommunication industry for 30 plus years. Since 2008, I haven’t been able to work full time. My finances have suffered ever since. I was fortunate to receive a kidney in November 14, 2016. Unfortunately, I will not be able to work for at least 6 months. I have always made my own way since a teenager. My mother died of cancer when I was 11 and my father was killed in an accident when I was 13. For the first time in my life I find myself needing help.

Transplants are lifesaving but are financially draining. Even with insurance, I face out of pocket expenses for copays, medications to suppress my immune system so my body does not reject my new kidney and on-going tests and medications.

To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Gerald’s honor has been established with Help Hope Live, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, are held by Help Hope Live in the South-Central Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by Help Hope Live for transplant-related expenses only. If you would like to make a contribution, please click the DONATE NOW bar.

Thank you!
