YOU CAN HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN RODNEY’S LIFE
Dear Family and Friends,
Rodney is a very courageous man with a positive attitude. As some of you know, he was diagnosed with kidney disease in 1992 and began dialysis in 1996, two months before the birth of our first son James. Rodney worked full time when his health permitted while on peritoneal dialysis. In July 2000, God granted him a kidney from the donor list a day before a friend was planning to be a living donor. We very much believe this was a miracle. In 2003 we were blessed with a second son Isaiah. Rodney is an amazing father and husband who is raising two great boys who love fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending family time together.
However, since August 2011 Rodney’s transplanted kidney has begun to fail and he has been hospitalized five times. He is in the process of evaluation to be re-listed on the kidney transplant list at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. Rodney has health insurance as he is currently on disability leave from his job, but even with insurance the cost of transplant medications and procedures not covered by insurance is upwards of $20,000. This has been a life-long journey, but the gift of transplant has given us such a better quality of life and we are hoping to experience this gift again.
To ease this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Rodney’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive (formerly NTAF), a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for nearly 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a contribution:It’s never easy to ask for assistance, but due to all the financial difficulties related to Rodney’s failing kidney and the need for another transplant, we need your help. Your financial gifts and prayers will be greatly appreciated.
With deepest appreciation,
Rodney Wright & Family
