Katie Triggs is a native to Phoenix and graduated from Sweetwater Elementary School and Moon Valley High School. Katie graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Ottawa University in 2005. Ever since she was little, Katie had a passion for helping others. During college, Katie was diagnosed with Immunoglomerulonephritis, which is a degenerative kidney disease. Recently Katie’s body has shut down, and she is now in need of a rapid kidney transplant.
In spite of her health issues, Katie has dedicated nearly a decade to teaching in both Arizona and Washington, D.C. Katie has taught children’s church and was a preschool director. She was highly involved in Key Club, Circle K, and Kiwanis until her health reached a point where she could no longer serve.
In July, Katie received a transplant, however, this is extremely expensive, and costs can be devastating. In addition to transplant expenses, there are payments for hospital visits, clinics, and medications needed for the rest of her life that insurance will not cover. She will also be out of work for a few months and will need assistance covering daily expenses. Once she is healed, she plans to return to teaching and eventually instruct beginning educators at the collegiate level, as well returning to Downtown Scottsdale Young Professionals Kiwanis Club.
To help with such expenses, a fundraising campaign in Katie’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. If you are able to make a contribution please click the DONATE NOW bar.
At times like this, the help of family, friends and the community is crucial to help ensure a successful outcome. Your financial gifts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
Warm regards,

Congratulations! We have raised enough to cover COBRA for November and December. We need a little more to make it through January. We also have a great need to raise enough to bring my brother to Phoenix for his final tests to be my match. Together, we can do this! :)
It's the end of the year, which means the deadline for charitable giving is fast-approaching. Did you know that your contributions here are tax-deductible? Thank you SO much for your support!
