Dear Friends and Family,

My daughter, Tashina needs your help to get a lifesaving kidney/pancreas transplant. Tashina was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was 13 years old. In spite of Tashina’s health issues and multiple hospitalizations, she managed to graduate High School early. After graduation Tashina joined the work force and tried to live life as normal as possible. Unfortunately, she developed diabetic gastroparesis and she had to stop working. Tashina returned to school and received a certificate in medical billing and coding, but due to her progressing illness she cannot pursue a career in this field yet. Tashina has some good days but, far more bad days and sometimes, she cannot get out of bed. When her health allows, she enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two nephews. With your help, Tashina can have more of the good days.

Now, Tashina has been diagnosed with end-stage renal disease and has just started dialysis. Tashina’s future depends on a kidney/pancreas transplant. She has been evaluated at California Pacific Medical Center and considered to be an excellent candidate for a transplant. Once Tashina receives her transplant she will be diabetes free! We are looking forward to that day. Although Medicare covers 80% of her transplant, it does not cover all transplant-related expenses such as co-pays, travel, possible relocation at the time of transplant and astronomically expensive immunosuppressant medications she will have to take for the rest of her life.
