We are writing to ask for your prayers and support for Kathy Jones-Watson. Kathy suffers from congestive heart failure and her doctors at Duke University Medical Center have told us that her only option is a life-saving heart transplant.
Kathy is a wonderful mother to her son James (15), a faithful daughter, involved with her church and community and good friend to many. She worked two jobs until her declining health forced her to stop working. For many years now Kathy has been in and out of the hospital due to her heart disease and illness brought on by her struggle. Thorough all of this she has maintained her sense of humor and the sparkle in her eye.
We need your help! The cost of the transplant surgery itself is staggering. The cost of survival is even more expensive. Kathy must raise $12,000 before the hospital will place her on the active transplant waiting list.
Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, travel and relocation to Duke at the time of transplant and Kathy will be on a life-time of very expensive anti-rejection medications. This puts us up against a challenge we cannot meet alone.
A fundraising campaign in Kathy’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please make a donation today.
We are grateful for your consideration in our desperate attempt to give Kathy a second chance at life. Any gift will be greatly appreciated.
On behalf of Kathy, James and our family, thank you for your kindness, generosity, support and prayers.
