Dear Family, Friends, and Community,
In 2005, our loved one, Winfred Warren (a.k.a. Winky), was diagnosed with FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis) a rare kidney disease in which scar tissue develops on the parts of the kidneys that filter waste out of the blood. After five years of treatment and being closely monitored, Winfred was diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease. Since 2010, he has had dialysis treatments three days a week, 4 hours each day. A kidney transplant is his best hope for a long and healthy life.
God decided to bless Winfred and me (Angel) with a child that we have been praying about for many years. I am currently four months pregnant and Winfred’s prayer and desire is to be able to see his baby grow up. He also wants to spend as much time as he can with his family and friends.
Winfred now needs a kidney transplant. Even with insurance, Winfred faces many uninsured pre and post-transplant expenses such as: co-pays and deductibles, doctor visits, travel to and from the transplant center and the expense of the costly medications that he will need to take for the rest of his life.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Winfred’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your prayers and support. Please share Winfred’s story with anyone and everyone!
Sincerely,
Angel Warren Tiffany George, Sister
So much has happened since my last update. I have a 19 month old son running around, my wife is currently 6 months pregnant and probably the BEST news of all is I received my gift of life on September 3, 2015!!!!! I am at home recovering well and my new kidney is working great! I have a long road ahead of me to a full recovery, but I am so blessed to have been given this gift! Many thanks to everyone for their prayers and most of all I will be forever grateful to my donor's family. In the midst of their loss, I have received a new leash on life thanks to the decision that was made to be a donor. My prayer is that my donor's family will realize their loved one is living on through me and that I will cherish this gift forever.
Thank you to those of you who have contributed to my fundraising campaign. It means more to me than you will ever know! I am truly blessed!
Sincerely,
Winfred (Wink) Warren
My dearest Wink,
You are a true inspiration to me! As I watch you live day to day with this kidney disease, you make me love you more and more each day by showing your determination to keep on keeping on even when times are tough. You and your son I am carrying are the greatest gifts God has given me. I love you!!!
