My mom, Regina is a courageous woman who has been battling kidney disease since 1978. Diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease her doctors have told her that her only option is a life-saving kidney transplant.
Regina is fortunate enough now to be able to be removed from dialysis while she waits for this transplant. She is still working at her job as a Claims Specialist. Although Regina has missed countless hours from work due to her condition, being able to work at this time means a lot to her. Through it all, Regina’s determination and fight for life is incredibly admirable and encouraging. In addition, her unwavering faith has kept her firmly focused on survival. Her strength to live is an inspiration to all.
Currently, Regina is on the kidney transplant list at Georgetown University Hospital. However, having a kidney transplant is extremely expensive, and costs can be overwhelming. Although her insurance will cover the greater part of the procedure, she will have many out-of-pocket pre and post-transplant expenses, such as co-payments for hospital visits, clinics, and costly immunosuppressant medications that she will need to take for the rest of her life.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Regina’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for over 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Mid-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. You can help make a difference in Regina’s life. Please, consider making a contribution.
It is never easy to ask for assistance; however, together we can make a difference for Regina. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
With sincere gratitude,
Kiana Robinson
