Felecia Wynne is a courageous woman, a single mother of two who was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease two and a half years ago. Felecia has also battled with diabetes and high blood pressure since the young age of nine years old. A kidney transplant is now her only chance to survive.
Through all of this Felecia has kept her enthusiasm for life. She had worked for Wal-Mart Vision Center for 18 years while raising her two children, until 2010 when her deteriorating health required her to stop. At that time she started dialysis three times a week. Felecia’s determination and fight for a second chance at life is admirable and encouraging.
Currently Felecia is on the kidney transplant waiting list at Shands Hospital. Because of the extraordinary expenses of transplantation, funding this life-saving operation is a monumental task. Despite having healthcare insurance, many of her medical needs are not covered and must be paid out-of-pocket. We anticipate substantial uninsured cost such as life-long immunosuppressant medications and travel to and from the transplant center. This presents a challenge Felecia cannot meet alone.
To help offset her uninsured costs, a fundraising campaign in Felecia’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held in the Southeast Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. You can help make a difference in Felecia’s life. Please consider an end-of-year tax-deductible contribution.
