Dear Family and Friends,

As many of you already know, for the past several years, my husband Lawrence has been courageously battling end-stage renal disease. For four years, Lawrence has been on dialysis, three days a week, and has been unable to work. These treatments are keeping him alive, but we’ve been told us that his only real shot at a long and healthy life is to receive a kidney transplant as soon as possible.

Currently, Lawrence is completing the transplant related medical evaluation at Medical University of South Carolina. Even with insurance, we face extraordinary transplant related expenses such as co-pays and deductibles travel to and from the transplant center, and the costly immunosuppressant medications that he will have to take for the rest of his life. Lifetime estimates for these medications are between $20,000 and $40,000. We need to have $5,000 before the doctors can start the transplant. Funding this life-saving operation is a monumental task that Lawrence cannot meet alone. Community and friends are crucial to help ensure a successful outcome.
