I am writing to you on behalf of my father, Mitchell Page. Some of you know that he has struggled with heart problems for most of his adult life and now faces a challenge he cannot meet alone. His doctors from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital have determined that his only chance for a long and healthy life is a heart transplant. He is currently on the active waiting list anticipating that lifesaving call.
My father had a pacemaker implanted to help him with some of his heart problems, but this only acted as a temporary solution. After a few upgrades to the pacemaker device, it was decided that a more effective device was needed to help my father continue to live. In August of 2013, he underwent major surgery to implant a Left Ventricular Assisted Device (LVAD). Unfortunately, the LVAD is only temporary and a heart transplant is necessary for my father to continue his journey in life.
Although my father has insurance, there are many uninsured expenses associated with transplantation, such as insurance co-pays, costly transplant medications (to be taken for a lifetime), as well as air-flight and lodging for follow-up appointments.
To help alleviate this financial burden of transplantation, a fundraising campaign in my father, Mitchell’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Mid-Atlantic Heart Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.

My father is extremely appreciative of the positive thoughts, prayers, love and support he has received during his journey thus far. Your continued support and contributions are greatly appreciated and will help my father survive this hurdle and return to his life as soon as possible.
Kind regards,
Natasha Chestnutt (daughter)
