Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know I am battling polycystic kidney disease. In January of 2013 my kidney function dropped to 8% and I am now on dialysis.
My mother was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease in 1981 and died at the age of 52. My grandmother also had polycystic kidney disease and that was the cause of her death, also at the age of 52. After finding out that this disease is an inherited disorder that is passed from parents to children through genes we all decided to get checked.
Despite having insurance many of my medical expenses are not covered by insurance and must be paid out-of-pocket. In addition, I will need to pay for lifelong immunosuppressant medications.
To help with such expenses, a fund-raising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the North-Central Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. If you are able to make a contribution, see the directions in the “Mailing a Check?” section of this page or select the “Donate Now” button.
At times like this, the help of family, friends and the community is crucial to help ensure a successful outcome. Your financial gifts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
Warm regards,
Rick Anderson
We had a post operation checkup in Sioux falls on Thursday and Dr Tamby said everything was looking good and infection has gone away, waiting to see if it comes back. So continue with hemo dialysis in Morris.
Now onto the great news- thanks to a living donor ( "Rick will receive the gift of life") a new kidney.
We have some one giving the greatest gift anyone could ever give and there is no way to put into words how we feel.
I can try, though. I must try, because I think you should know that this life that will be saved is a life of promise. My promise to you is that we will never waste one moment of it.
We are looking at September.
((((((((Today's friend is tomorrows family))))))))
I will be setting up a caring bridge page as it gets closer
Thanks for all of the prayers and please continue for a good outcome.
