In August of 2012, he volunteered to drive across country to California to help a friend remodel an inherited home to ready it for sale when the car accident that changed his life occurred. Prior to his accident, Frank was working as a forensic underwriter. He is also CEO of LokBlok, Inc., a company that patented a concrete block which can be assembled without mortar. He was planning to erect some prototypes upon return from this trip; unfortunately everything has been put on hold.
Frank was diagnosed as a C6/C7 incomplete quadriplegic Asia C and spent 6 months in the hospital, 3 months of which were spent wearing a halo. He was able to feel touch in his legs and feet within days of his surgery and could wiggle his toes just 3 weeks after. Since the surgery, he has had the use of his arms, but minimal use of his hands. It has been 18 months since his accident and Frank is able to take steps while wearing his braces and using a walker. His hands are also showing signs of improvement.
Frank is attending an advanced rehabilitation facility in order to further his progress of being able to walk. He really enjoys his time at therapy and since going there has shown a great deal of improvement. Unfortunately his insurance will only cover a finite amount of therapy sessions and Frank’s only income source is from disability.
To help with the cost of these uninsured medical expenses and recovery-based therapies, a fundraising campaign in Frank’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. In 2000, they expanded their mission to include those who have sustained a catastrophic injury. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the North-Central Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only. Won’t you please consider helping Frank realize his dream of returning to an active life by contributing to his HelpHOPELive fundraising campaign? Your donation is so greatly appreciated.
