We are writing to you on behalf of someone very special, Eddie Cannon. As you may know, Eddie has been suffering from congestive heart failure for many years. He has endured many heart surgeries and is 100% dependent on his pacemaker and defibrillator. Eddie’s doctors at Emory University Hospital have told us that he is in need of a life-saving heart transplant. He is currently on IV medications 24 hours a day and is getting weaker.
Through his years of illness, Eddie always stays positive and determined to live his life to the fullest while knowing God has a plan. He is a skilled machinist by trade but has been unable to work for many years due to his debilitating heart disease.
Not only is a transplant major surgery, it is also very expensive. Even with insurance, there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles, travel to and from the transplant center and relocation expenses at the time of transplant. In addition, Eddie will be on a life-time of very expensive anti-rejection medications.
To ease this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Eddie’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Heart Transplant Fund and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplanted expenses only. Please consider making a contribution.
Together we can make a difference. We ask that you pray for the future donors family and the decisions they have to make at a difficult time. We thank you for your good wishes, kindness, generosity and continued prayers.

UPDATE- Eddie has been hospitalized at Emory University Hospital and will be there until he receives his heart transplant. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. The best is yet to come.
Eddie has been admitted to Emory Hospital and will be there until he receives the heart transplant. Of course no one knows how long that will be, but an average of 3-6 months. He continues to have IV meds and a swans catheter to measure the heart pressures. His spirits remain high and confident that the best is yet to come. Please continue to pray for Eddie and for the donor/donor family.
Since MUSC heart transplants have been temporarily suspended, I am now getting on the Emory transplant list! They require $5000.00 in the fundraising account so we are working hard to get to that point. I now have a PICC line and on IV meds 24/7 and getting weaker. Please continue to pray for my future transplant and for the future donors out there! They have a difficult decision to make.
Eddie had gotten noticeably weaker since February so he went to MUSC for a doctors visit. He was admitted and a week later he received a pic line and continuous IV meds to help his heart pump better. It was amazing how much this medication helped but we know it is not for long term use. Because of this, he is placed higher on the heart transplant list. Please continue to pray for Eddie and his needed heart transplant.
We had a fun and successful "stick it to a principal" event at TL Hanna High School. Money was raised and three assistant principals were duct taped to the wall, one each lunch! I believe the teachers enjoyed it as much as the students! Way to go teachers and students!
Our home group from New Spring sponsored our first fundraiser at Fuddrucker's last night. We were so blessed with a fantastic response. We want to thank all who helped with this event and look forward to planning more events. God is good.
