My name is Deborah Diaz; I have a debilitating disease called Lupus which has changed my life forever. This autoimmune disease destroys healthy tissue, including internal organs and sadly, there is currently no cure. In April 2007, my kidneys failed and I began 4x a week dialysis treatments to remove toxins, waste and extra fluid from my body. Now I have to dialysis for 11 hours every night to keep me alive. This sadly is my last option and my only chance for survival is to have a kidney transplant.
Since my diagnosis, I have had to relearn how to walk several different times, been in a coma and have had over 50 medical procedures on my chest, leg and arms for dialysis port placements and other medical complications.
