Hi, my name is Tammy. At age 17, I was injured through a car accident that paralyzed me from my chest down, leaving me as an incomplete quadriplegic. It stripped a lot of my physical independence especially the ability to care for myself, financially support myself, and drive.
I knew I had an incredibly long road ahead of me. But, I also knew through sheer determination and hard work, I will somehow and someway bring my biggest goal of driving again into fruition. And here we are — all thanks to your generous donations for the past 15 years! Your contributions allowed me to afford and progress through ongoing physical therapy, and I’M FINALLY BACK ON THE ROAD!
What does being able to drive mean to me? Independence, control, autonomy, and freedom.
Albeit being able to progress in therapy, my left arm did not heal as strong as my right side. Therefor I will need specialized hand controls that allows me to drive and control the car solely with my right arm. Unfortunately, with the high cost of a new safe, accessible van and special special adaptive equipments, it is not covered by insurance at all.
I’m aware that the grand total price goal is incredibly high, but I would like to once again ask for your generous help to help me fundraise so that I can afford a new customized accessible van I can independently drive. I am grateful for any contributions, small or large, as every bit helps me get that much closer to further regaining my independence, and achieve a better quality of life.
To help offset the cost of a new car, hand controls and other uncovered injury-related expenses, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. In 2000, they expanded their mission to include those who have sustained a catastrophic injury. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southwest Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only. Thank you,
– Tammy

Perfect strangers recently helped my family meet a fundraising goal for my daughter's medical equipment, and they've completely changed her life! Though my gift is small, I can't help but pay it forward. I hope you meet your goal! I will be praying for your success!

Tammy, this is actually the first time I even know part of your story, and it left me feeling inspired... to do more. My contribution isn't much, I'm rootin' for you. (: Good luck, and see you when I'm back.

I found this video because it was shared on FB by Katheryn Huynh, and Ken Pham. I know Tammy's brother, David, as merely an acquaintance. Tammy, your story is truly inspiring. Good look in reaching your campaign goals. You deserve much more than what I or anyone else could offer.
