I am the mother of a beautiful daughter and very handsome son-in-law, I am also the grandmother of three beautiful little girls, ages 8 months, 3 years and 5 years. I have a disease that has progressed rapidly over the last 2 years. It is now to the point where I can no longer enjoy the foods I so love to cook. Cooking has always been a passion of mine, where love is the key spice for every dish.
Because of the disease I have struggled with over the last two years, I am now completely dependent upon intravenous nutritional feedings. The specialists at Georgetown University Hospital have told me that a transplant is necessary if I’m ever going to be healthy again. In order to watch my granddaughters carry on our family traditions in the kitchen, I will need a new digestive system – a small and large intestine and stomach transplant.
Transplant surgery is very expensive and can be financially devastating to the patient and family of the transplant recipient. Although I do have health insurance, many expenses are not fully covered or not covered at all. These expenses will include travel and relocation to Georgetown, post-transplant treatment and life sustaining anti-rejection medications.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Intestine Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
I learned how to express love from the kitchen of my mom and I would cherish the opportunity to pass that love along to my granddaughters. Thank you in advance for your generosity and willingness to give me a second chance at life.
With deepest gratitude,
Traci

Hello everyone, it has been a while since I have updated you on how I am doing. I have had several setbacks, but I am fighting a good fight and I refuse to toss in the towel. At the end of the day I can close my eyes knowing I have given my all. I would like to say thank you to those who have been so very kind and generous. I would like to also thank those who have the desire to give, but is unable too at this time, so to you, I say thank you.
Hello everyone, hope all is well. I have been struggling with nausea and loosing a lot of fluids. Can’t go forward until the infection is gone. So praying the IV antibiotics starts to work.
Due to go back up to Georgetown Unervisity Transplant Hospital on 5/6/14 to be listed for small and large intestine transplant and possibly my stomach as well. Times is hard for many but folks have found it in their hearts to give to me. I need to work really hard before I get transplanted. Please continue to pray for me. Thank you.
Hey everyone, had 4 surgeries and seven blood transfusions. I lost my entire small intestine over a series of six or seven days. Now a normal healthy intestine is needed for a transplant for me if I’m to ever eat and successfully be able to digest anything consumed orally. Again thank you for your support and kindness towards me.
I am in the hospital, going to have surgery tomorrow, Friday 3/28/14. This is major surgery an I need your prayers and encouragement. Again, thank you all who have generously given to me. May you and your family be richly blessed and all you have sown, may you bountifully reap.
Returned from Georgetown Transplant Institute. Will be going up for major surgery in a couple of weeks. I want to say thank you to those of you who have already given, and I pray it come back to you double fold. Those who are unable to give please pray for success for my campaigning efforts, thank you.
Hello, everyone I hope this update find you all safe and well. I am doing fairly well at this time, and for that I am truly grateful. I was due to go to Georgetown University Hospital, but because of a very bad winter storm. I will now be going up n week. Thank you all for your financial and emotional support. May it come back to you, pressed down and running over. Thank you.
Hi everyone, I went to my doctor appointment. I was so scared that I was going to admitted back into the hopital. I am so blessed, I did not have to get admitted. I am still on blood thinning medicine to dissolve the blood clot in my internal jugular (neck). It will take a while, but I am happy to go home today. Thankyou all for your love and support.
I will continue to say you are my INSPIRATION, God got this & He got you right under his wings. No Worries I Love you Sis. Cook. Continual Prayers.
