Dear Friends and Family,
Bill received a new kidney on September 15, 2011. He is home and doing well except for a lot of dizziness due to low blood pressure. Unfortunately, his wound has opened up, due to his diabetes, and it needs to be packed 3-4 times a day. The doctors predict that his wound should be completely healed by Christmas. Other than that Bill is working on building up his strength and looking forward to being able to do more with friends and family, especially his granddaughter, Maizie.
While this is very good news, transplants are extremely expensive and costs can be devastating. As a two-time recipient of kidney transplants, I continue to have out-of-pocket transplant-related expenses. Now with Bill in need of a transplant and facing the same out-of-pocket expenses that I have, funding this procedure presents a financial challenge. There will be expenses such as payments for hospital visits, clinics, and costly medications that Bill will need to take for the rest of his life.
To help with some of these uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established in Bill’s honor with HelpHOPELive. HelpHOPELive is a non-profit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for more than 28 years. All contributions are tax-deductible and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. If you feel that you can make a donation to help Bill and me, please:It is never easy to ask for assistance, but funding Bill’s transplant is a difficult challenge and we need your help. At times like this, the help of family, friends and the community is crucial to help ensure a successful outcome. Your financial gifts and prayers will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Mary Brown (408-984-2716)
Bill's Transplant
Our miracle day started with a call at 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Shock, excitement, disbelief!!! Bill received his new kidney and it worked immediately. Our Granddaughter, Maizie, has named the new kidney KiddyKiddy.
Bill has color in his face, is walking and feeling better than he expected to. He is coming home today.
We are so blessed to have so many friends who have prayed for this day and I want to thank every one of you for all your support during our wait the last 4 years.
God bless you all and keep you safe.
Bill and Mary
