Liz never expected her life to totally change while driving home from Jacksonville on that January night.
The joyful plans of her future came to a screeching halt as it was exchanged for sadness, disappointment and fear, including weeks in trauma ICU, 8 surgeries, and lots of rehab time. The numerous internal injuries, including a spinal cord injury leaving her unable to move and control her lower body have taken a devastating toil with physical and emotional scars.
But God has been gracious! He has allowed us to keep this amazing young woman whose reputation for her positive outlook, loving kindness has brought smiles to so many faces. And by God’s awesome plan so many have come to know the Lord as they witness his rescuing our little Lizzy. Her new chapter has begun. She and her family are so appreciative of the outpouring of love and support that is so necessary to transition into her new life.
Liz now faces many uninsured expenses due to her accident such as rehabilitation costs, handicapped equipment and home modifications. In addition, a wheelchair-accessible van will become a necessity in a short period of time.
To help offset such expenses, a fundraising campaign Liz’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. In 2000, they expanded their mission to include those who have sustained a catastrophic injury. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only. If you would like to make a contribution, select the “Donate Now” button or see the “Mailing a Check?” box on the right side of this page.
We pray that we will all continue to be blessed through these many acts of love! Therefore these three remain…. Faith, Hope & Love….and the greatest of these is love (1 cor 13 13)

Hey birthday buddy. 5Ks have never really been my strong suit, so I hope this helps. I know what a strong-willed person you are, so I know that you will get through this.

Hi Liz, even though we have never met, I feel like I know you. I have been friends with Kerry's family since 1976 and love all of them dearly. They have shared wonderful stories of you and made me anxious to meet you. I know you will pull through this tragic event a very strong person. I am ready to make arrangements to be there for your wedding whenever and wherever it happens. Love to you and Kerry.
