You may know my wife Angela Delphine Epps, both a mother and grandmother. Angela is just 55 years old and for 27 of those years she has been in a battle with diabetes. She is now legally blind because of it. For the last 13 months she has been on dialysis 3.5 hours/3 days a week. These treatments deplete Angela of all her energy but they are keeping her alive. She is in end-stage kidney failure now and needs a kidney transplant to survive.
Fortunately, Angela is on the waiting list to receive a transplant at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. However, even with Medicare, there will be many out-of-pocket expenses including the cost of traveling to and from Norfolk to Durham, food and hotel stays. The post-transplant expenses will be more than we can afford with follow-up doctor visits and the cost of the anti-rejection medications Angela will need to take for the rest of her life.
To help offset some of these expenses, a fundraising campaign in Angela’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered for transplant-related expenses only. For those who are able and would like to contribute, please use the information below.

With sincere gratitude,
