Breathing is something most of us take for granted. I know I did. But when your lungs do not provide the air you need, your body becomes paralyzed and you can’t move. I suffer from end stage COPD and have been on oxygen 24/7 for the past three years. My doctors at Vanderbilt University Medical Center told me that my only option is a life-saving double lung transplant.
My daughter Tia and my 1 year old grandson Paxton are the center of my life. I have the best job taking care of my grandson and I love every minute of it. I look forward to someday being able to do so many things with him that I can’t do now.
This brings me to the purpose of my letter. Organ transplantation is life-saving, but very expensive. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be covered out of pocket. Some of these are deductibles, co-pays, a care giver and travel and relocation for at least three months at the time of transplant. In addition, I will be on a life-time of expensive anti-rejection medications.
To help ease this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in my honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Lung Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a contribution.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, support and prayers

hi, I haven't logged anything for awhile. I am doing well for now. I will have another bronchoscopy on 9-1-2015. I am praying this comes back negative, it will be two in a row. I'm glad I'm better because I can spend a lot more time with my grandson, he gives me so much joy.
hi everyone, I haven't been to my page for a while. I had my double lung transplant in October. It went well. Had a rib break and was bleeding in the right lung, they went back in and fixed it. I have had small amount rejection twice. We nipped that in the bud. I'm at home now. I'm very blessed to be writing this message.ot
I am going to Vanderbilt on July 31st. Hoping they will be putting me on the transplant list then. I have fulfilled all their requirements so far. I would like to say a very deep heartfelt thank you to all the family and friends.
Going to my grandsons first birthday party tomorrow. I miss him. I am unable to take care of him for my daughter, my breathing has gotten worst. I was blessed to watch him for 11 months. Can't wait for the day I can watch him again. I adore my little peanut so much. I will post pictures soon.
Love you and I pray we can get enough raised quickly!
