Angela has chosen to fundraise with HelpHOPELive in part because HelpHOPELive assures fiscal accountability of funds raised and tax deductibility for donors. Donors can be sure that funds donated will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. To make a tax-deductible donation to this fundraising campaign, click on the Donate Now button.
Let me give you a little background of Angela. She attended International Arts College & the University of Miami and was a graphic designer. She is 37 years old and has a two year old son and just recently moved to live close to her family for extra help and support. Unfortunately that came at a cost of being two hours away from Jacksonville and an hour from Gainesville where she has to go for all of her medical needs.
A few years ago she was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy, which causes damage to the retina and ultimately left her blind in one eye. Now after the birth of her son she is finding herself with a new set of problems. She was diagnosed with end stage renal disease which causes your kidneys to fail and she will need dialysis or a kidney transplant to live. She is in the process on trying to find a kidney and we will keep you posted on those updates.
On top of everything that has happened her insurance dropped her and she now relies on Medicare which leaves her responsible for 20% of everything and her post transplant drugs aren’t covered. She has reached out to the American Kidney Fund and other places and some are a help, but it is just not enough.
