My 23 year old son, Tim Strain is in end stage renal failure and is on peritoneal dialysis at home 7 days a week. His doctors have told us that his only option is a life-saving kidney transplant.
Prior to this recent diagnosis, Tim was a typical healthy young adult. He graduated from Central High School, loves to prepare food for our family and be creative in the kitchen. Tim also enjoys the outdoors and maintains the landscaping at our home.
Currently, Tim is completing his medical evaluation at a hospital in Pittsburgh. However, due to the extraordinary expense of transplantation funding this life-saving operation is a monumental task. Even with insurance, many of his medical needs are not covered and must be paid out-of-pocket. Some of these expenses are co-pays, deductibles, travel to and from the transplant center and relocation costs at the time of transplant which will be high. In addition, Tim will be on a life-time of very expensive anti-rejection medications. This puts us up against a challenge our family cannot meet alone and desperately need your help.
A fundraising campaign in Tim’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Mid-Atlantic Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a contribution.
It is never easy to ask for assistance, but we need your help. On behalf of Tim, myself and our family, thank you for your kindness, generosity, support and prayers.
