I have great news to share with you! Christmas Day 2013, my husband, Dannie Turner received the gift of life, a life-saving liver transplant at Porter Adventist Hospital in Colorado.
While on duty serving his country in Vietnam, Dannie’s liver was attacked by toxins. Over the years his health declined and he was in end stage liver failure. We were told he only had a few days left had he not received his Christmas miracle. After three months of dialysis his kidney function picked up some and he is now home gaining his strength.
We have been married for 37 years, have a great 16 year old son, Daniel who has just graduated from high school (homeschooled his entire life). Dannie is so happy to be here for his family and will be watching Daniel leave for college in August. Dannie likes to play guitar, go camping and fishing and spend time with his family and friends.
As you can imagine, Dannie’s strenuous journey has led to staggering medical bills. Already, thousands of dollars of uninsured medical expenses have accumulated and will continue to grow because of the need for follow-up appointments and anti-rejection medications. Even with insurance, the cost of transplantation is overwhelming. Because of this, we must continue to rely on those with giving and caring hearts.
To help ease the burden of these on-going medical expenses, a fundraising campaign in Dannie’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Midwest/West Liver Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only. Please consider making a donation today.
On behalf of Dannie, myself and our family, thank you for your kindness, generosity and support.
