Cynthia began to have kidney issues when she was three years old. As a teen, she was diagnosed with FSGS and was told she would need a transplant in the future. She had her first transplant at 20 years old. Her mother was her donor and on Feb. 28, 1996 she was given a second chance at life.
Cynthia went on to get a degree in Elementary Education. She married Gabriel in 1999 and moved to Florida. On Feb. 28, 2004, exactly 8 years after her transplant, she gave birth to Jordan. This was a true miracle in itself.
Cynthia had to stop teaching in November of 2010, because she started to become ill again. After having a biopsy, she was told that her body is rejecting her mother’s kidney. The specialists have tried different methods to see if it would help the rejection, which it did for a little while. Cynthia is now in need of another transplant. Family and friends are currently being tested to see who is the best match for Cynthia. God willing, the most compatible match will be found so she doesn’t have to wait long, since she is also on the transplant list.
The strength and positive outlook on life that Cynthia has is immeasurable. She and her family know that with their faith, she will come back stronger and healthier. She is looking forward to this life saving procedure so that she can be around for many more years to see her son, Jordan, grow up.
Even though her insurance will cover the bulk of the procedure, Cynthia will have many out of pocket costs including costly life-long anti-rejection medications, clinic and hospital visits, and donor expenses.
To help with this financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Cynthia’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Southeast Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expense only. Please consider a contribution.
Thank you for your prayers, support and generosity,
Gabriel (Cynthia’s husband) Adeline (Cynthia’s friend)

Hello!!! Just want everyone to know that my husband was approved as a donor. I only had 13% chance of finding someone I would not reject. God placed him in my life, 20 yrs ago, for a reason. We received the phone call November 19th & had our transplant December 3rd. Everything went great!!! We came home that very same weekend. The kidney is working excellent. Our recovery is going great. Thank you so much for your generosity and most important of all your prayers. GOD is so GOOD!!!!

Years ago, the Lord allowed your mom to become your donor. What God does, he does perfect. I have faith that God can heal you because he is the one that gives the final word. You are in his hands.
