At the age of 15, Tiffany Browning was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called chronic glomerulonephritis where the tiny filters in the kidneys (glomeruli) become inflamed. The disease slowly took over both of her kidneys and by 22, her kidneys failed completely.
It was at that time that Tiffany started dialysis treatments 3 days a week, 4 hours a day. It makes her sick with awful headaches but this is keeping her alive. For six years, Tiffany has been hospitalized too many times to count. This horrendous disease has taken over her life, but she is strong and tries to stay positive every day.
Fortunately, Tiffany is on the kidney transplant waiting list at MUSC (Medical University of South Carolina). She received word that she is getting closer to the top of the list since she has been on dialysis for so long. MUSC could call at any time and we would be given a 24 hour window to travel to the hospital to be prepped and ready for surgery. Tiffany needs to be financially ready. Though transplants are lifesaving, they are extremely expensive with many costs not covered by insurance such as travel to and from the center, relocation for Tiffany and her caregiver, co-pays and anti-rejection medications she will need to take the rest of her life. This is a challenge she cannot face alone. Tiffany needs your help.
To help with the financial burden of Tiffany’s uninsured expenses, a fundraising campaign in her honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a trusted nonprofit organization that has been providing community-based fundraising guidance to patients and their families for more than 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the South-Atlantic Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
